Monkey modifications

These are some mods I have been thinking about for Monkey, not sure if they are in the rules, but I have read them several times and I think it would pass all of them and work, only problem is my lack of time in the shed!

Dragonfly

This is the latest design, which I think is about the best I am going to get. The idea is to make a female mould from MDF (shown in drg above, so boat trimed to the shape in iso at top of drg), I think the bottom panel will bend to the shape, and then cover it with parcel tape so I can vac bag down to it. I was hoping to use vacum infusion but will need to do some test panels first. I did some infusion trials at work a few years ago so have an idea how it works, it should be an improvment on the wet lay and vac bag. I did all the lamination by my self on Monkey and it was a struggle to do it in the pot life of the resin.

This was another idea, called 14a, (not sure why its called 14a) ideas have moved on since.

I have been sailing canoes since about 1987, my first being K180. I then had GBR264 built by Rob to do the 1997 worlds. Since then I drifted away from the class, but had GBR240 to mess about with. The proposed new rules go me intrested again and I built Monkey, competing in the 2008 worlds.

I am about to embark on my next build and want to keep a record of my thoughts and ideas. The built may take some time, but I have started with cnc machined foils that I am trying out on Monkey

The photo here is of the 2007 euro's in Loch Lomond.
After Loch Lomond I relised that a single sail was not for me and I changed it to a more convential rig. John Ellis is sailing the Nethercott behind.
